BIBLE

What is the Bible? This is a polarizing question, and one the Christian community cannot afford to hedge on. Is scripture the God-breathed, divinely inspired, inerrant Word of God? If it is anything less then it is irrelevant. For if the Bible is not the unique Word of God and without error, how can we trust what it says about our Lord?

For this reason the Christian needs to determine how he or she views scriptures. Common thoughts within even the Christian community lower the Bible by questioning its historicity, its claims, or its author. It is one thing for people to dispute the interpretation of God’s Word, but if they dispute its source they have gone left of field.

If one views the Bible as true, then by necessity, one must act accordingly. To act contrary to truth is to deceive oneself… to take on a shade of insanity. For the sane choice in the face of absolute truth is to adhere to it. Can you agree to this? Can you agree that the Bible gives you absolute standards of living and a correct understanding of our primary responsibility to glorify God?

Those who critique the Bible on various grounds offer many arguments as support. Some are of greater merit (only theoretically) than others. Yet I have not encountered a single argument that seeks to refute Christian truth that cannot be countered with an even stronger response. Do not be confused that seemingly meritorious slander of God’s Word exists, there is not a doctrine or idea known to man that does not have its detractors. Take comfort instead that Biblical defenses are of stronger footing and of demonstrative historicity.

This segment is not intended to provide an overview of the debates on Biblical veracity. Plenty of online sources speak to the issue, some of which are linked (see the “Links” tab for more). The point is, if you are a Christian, you cannot divorce your faith from the truth of the Bible. You must take scripture to heart, bind it to your soul, and then live accordingly.
